The collection of the monk's paintings and calligraphy denoted deep spiritual meaning and give you a sense of deep meditation state.
The exhibition included colour paintings, lotus ink wash paintings, figure paintings and calligraphy done over the last 12 years.

Dachan's ink wash paintings were done in a contemporary manner and imbued with a Zen sensibility. The monk achieved Zen enlightenment "on the basis of a gradual understanding of aesthetic subtleties". His calligraphy and paintings are grounded in classical forms but he has his own distinctive style.

"He uses ink wash methods rooted in Chinese culture to summarise the changeless of life and rekindles our understanding of nature and life. His thoughts encompass the new and the familiar as well as the profound and the remote," the curator said.

The exhibition is a dialogue between the artist's art and life. A self-taught painter, Dachan, 46, believes in moral self-cultivation through calligraphy and painting. He advocates entering the world of Zen through art and emphasises inner cultivation.
