On Sunday 18th of February at the Fashion Scout, Fashion for Conservation showcased their spectacular Fashion Show promoting the protection of the rainforest.

The catwalk featured designers' interpretations of the richness of the rainforest, the flora, fauna at their exotic habitat.

As a South American I felt that this campaign truly did a fantastic job in recreating the rainforest atmosphere and most importantly the awareness for its preservation.

The rainforest, also known as “The lungs of the Earth”, is suffering a great deal of destruction daily due to the fragmentation of their forests, resulting in increased climate change and the declination of species globally. “The urgency of conserving the earth's remaining rainforests now goes beyond cultural and wildlife preservation.” - FFC

Fashion for Conservation’s AW18 show featured a zero waste collection “Impermanent Flora,” which was an avant-garde rainforest inspired collection made entirely from end of bolt textiles and up cycled clothing by Rene Garza in collaboration with Magpies and Peacocks design house.

They had a guest designer of “Kalikas Armour” that opened the exhibition with his rainforest inspired line, “Majestic Mystics”.

“Fashion for Conservation was founded by three women determined to make a positive impact on the world through conservation-inspired couture. Nazanine Afshar (Art Director, Condé Nast), Samantha Zwicker (Conservationist, Hoja Nueva) and Ava J. Holmes (Producer) combine their talents and passions to create fashion campaigns that educate and inspire consumers while supporting conservation. “
