The Russian Ballet Icons Gala
2019 took place on Sunday 31 March, 2019 at the London Coliseum celebrating the
legacy of the famed Russian Ballet school.
Firmly
established as one of the highlights of the international ballet calendar, the
Russian Ballet Icons Gala at the London Coliseum brought together the world’s
biggest ballet stars of today.
The gala was accompanied by the
English National Ballet Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Valery
Ovsyanikov.
The
audience was treated to Russian ballet repertoire classics such as La
Bayadère, Swan Lake, Raymonda,
Don Quixote and also featured contemporary
masterpieces by Wayne McGregor,
Mauro Bigonzetti, David Dawson and Radu Poklitaru among the others. Among the guests who applauded the mastery of the dancers
and paid tribute to the great Russian ballet school were: Prince and Princess
Michael of Kent, Jeremy Irons, Ozwald Boateng, director Martha Fiennes, Lady
and Sir Rocco Forte, the Royal sculptress Frances Segelman, legendary dancer
Wayne Sleep, Elizabeth Emanuel, Yvette Vaughan-Jones, socialites Lady Colin
Campbell and Liz Brewer, Angela Rippon and HE the Russian Ambassador Alexander
Yakovenko. They were entertained at a champagne reception in the American bar
of the London Coliseum and at an exclusive dinner at an iconic Waldorf Hilton
Hotel with further entertainment by the Voice finalist Kalon Rae,
pianist Evgeny Khmara and a fashion show with designs by Micaela Oliviera.
